Heroes, Henchmen and AFK's
Henchmen always stay near the party leader unless flagged. Heroes stay with their owner. This is all fine until the person they are following from goes AFK then, if you can't bring any enemies to them, the H/H also become useless until the person either returns or is booted for some reason. With reconnects is takes about a minute for the server to notice the disconnect, then another 10 minutes before they are finally booted for the disconnect. So if their connection goes down your looking at over 10 minutes of sitting around doing nothing till the H/H before their control is turned over to the next person in the party.
So if the person who brought three heroes goes AFK for any reason it can hold up the entire group till he returns since you are down half the group. If it was just him going AFK then it wouldn't be as much of an issue. If they are the party leader and brought along henchmen as well its even worse.
So what I propose is that if someone hasn't sent and commands to control his character or his H/H for at least 30 seconds, or the server detects a disconnect before then, the H/H will stop following him and start following someone else in the party. To prevent problems caused by the H/H suddenly running halfway across the map back to him mid-battle he will not regain control of his H/H until he gets at least one of them within aggro range.

I know how you feel. I like your idea, it makes lots of sense. I wonder if 30 seconds could be increased to a minute, because I know some people have multiple things running in the background and sometimes during combat they'll switch windows, but they're not technically afk. Of course, if they were to start moving again, the heroes could follow them again. But either way, /signed.

Tender Wolf, the exact duration of the timer is not really important.

A command or extra feature that could be added is one that a player can use to ask their heroes to follow someone else, therefore bypassing the wait of AFK, and also allowing players to switch control of heroes if one person knows something better than someone else.

Maybe a follow command or something. I've been thinking of something like this but just never got around to posting.
